About this tool

Font Migrator finds every font referenced inside a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file — including the theme fonts and fonts buried in places you cannot easily reach — shows how often each is used, and lets you swap any of them for another. You save a migrated copy of the file.

When to use it

Use it when your organisation changes its corporate typeface, when a document arrives full of a font nobody has installed, or when you need to remove a licensed font from files before sending them outside.

How to use it

1. Open a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file to scan the fonts it uses.
2. For each font, pick a replacement from the list or type any font name — leave it empty to keep the original.
3. Save the file to download the migrated copy; your original is never modified.

Good to know

• Replacing a theme font changes every piece of text that follows that theme font, which is usually most of the document.
• Swapping a font changes which typeface is requested, not the layout it produces — a replacement with different metrics can reflow text and change line breaks.
• The tool renames font references inside the file; it does not embed font files, so recipients still need the replacement font installed (or a sensible fallback).

Common questions

Why does Word still show the old font somewhere?

Fonts can be set in many places: theme fonts, styles, direct formatting, and inside charts, SmartArt or text boxes. The scan lists everything it finds, but text inside a picture is not a font reference and cannot be changed.

Will my layout stay the same?

Only if the replacement has similar metrics. Swapping a narrow font for a wide one will move line breaks, so check the document afterwards — especially tables and anything designed to fit a single page.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Scanning and rewriting both happen entirely in your browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
